Andrew Chapman presents a quick rundown of what's on at the leading Christian-focused festival.

From 26 to 29 August, the sound of hoofbeats at Cheltenham racecourse will recede in favour of drumbeats, singing, chatter and laughter at the Christian community's annual jamboree that is Greenbelt, described by John Bell as 'youth festival, music festival, political festival, evangelical festival, development festival, broke festival, harvest festival... there's something in all these myths about Greenbelt that is accurate, but nothing entirely true.'

There's too much going on to present a full list here, but here are some highlights at least:

Music - The Proclaimers are still going strong with their distinctive Scots sound - a new band, Jazz Jamaica, launches, described by The Guardian as Britain's 'own rival to the Bena Vista Social Club' - award-winning hip-hopper and rapper Estelle will also be headlining.

Talks - John Bell himself, from the Iona Community, will be taking centre stage - former KLF member and artworld prankster Bill Drummond is also in the line-up - Jenny McIntosh will be talking about her New Zealand Spirited Exchanges project.

Literature - Between the Lines will again be creating a book in 24 hours, and is looking for your contributions - meet Penny Culliford, the 'Christian Bridget Jones' - science fiction author Philip Purser-Hallard will intriguingly be talking about 'The Spirituality of Doctor Who.'

Arts & Comedy - the renowned Reduced Shakespeare Company will be performing all 37 works in 97 minutes - stand-up comedian and master of one-liners Milton Jones will be there - take time out to contemplate Jake Lever's artworks inspired by the human hand.

This lot hardly scratches the surface: there's plenty for children and young people, you can keep up with it all through Greenbelt FM, and of course there are plenty of opportunities for worship, both conventional and unusual.

Surefish will be there, needless to say: look out for The Tank internet cafe, the Surefish happy hour quiz in the Christian Aid tent after worship on the Sunday, the Surefish discussion forum about ethics and money on the Sunday afternoon (3pm) - and then relax in the Surefish bowl cafe, also in the Christian Aid tent!
