Save money the green way and raise up to
£30 for Christian Aid, reports Mark Vickery
While we'd all like to be greener when it comes
to the energy we use we'd expect green energy to cost us more. Surprisingly,
this is often not the case.
Since the government has encouraged energy suppliers
to produce electricity from more sustainable sources the amount
of electricity generated from hydro electric, wind and biomass stations
has increased to almost 5% nationwide.
There are many suppliers who offer green electricity
tariffs which are competitively priced and in many cases still offer
considerable savings from the standard suppliers in an area.
Christian Aid has teamed up with switchandgive.com,
an independent Energywatch approved service that compares prices
from all gas and electricity suppliers to enable you to find the
most suitable supplier for you.
Switchandgive.com enables users to compare all
suppliers available and select them according to whether they are
green, how much savings they offer compared to the current supplier
or what service rating they have. And Switchandgive.com will donate
£10-20 to Christian Aid if you switch through them.
Phones
In addition Switchandgive.com offers a price
comparison service for home phones where you can find out how much
you can save with a wide range of suppliers like TalkTalk, One.Tel.
& Alpha Telecom.
Many suppliers offer totally free calls at the
weekends which could help the you save up to 50% on the cost of
calls on your phone bill.
Some users who call abroad a lot may find they
can save as much as 80%. Your line will still be supplied and maintained
by BT, your calls will just be routed through a cheaper provider.
Thousands are switching every week, so why not
take a look? Switchandgive.com we will donate £10 to Christian
Aid for every switch.
Mrs Stevens of Worksop switched to a green electricity
supplier in March this year and is set to save around £87
per year on her bills.
"After all the scaremongering I had heard
I thought it would be complicated to switch supplier. In the end
it took just ten minutes over the phone and I chose a green supplier
for my electricity. I'm delighted Christian Aid will get £20
because they do so much good work around the world."
The service does not cost you a penny and
Switchandgive.com will do all the hard work, like comparing a multitude
of tariffs and rates, finding the best deal for you and completing
the switch for you.
