This month we’ve got ten chicken games, from the educational to the absurd. Enjoy playing the chicken games (rather than playing chicken...)

Small but important print: All games are free downloads or free to view online, and need the minimum of equipment.

Some games require your browser to have a 'plug in' for Shockwave, Flash or Java.

To play a game, simply click on its name. If you are a parent, we advise you to try the game and the site it's on first before letting your kids play them, to make sure you're happy.

When downloading games from the Internet, don't forget to keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware software up to date.

• Pip’s Egg-cellent Adventure
Click on any chains of three or more eggs to keep them out of the way of the coyotes. Grabbing the golden egg, the hatching egg or the painted eggs will get you more points, and the horseshoe and the picture will speed up or slow down the game.

• Chicken Farm: Catch ‘Em If You Can
The chickens need catching and feeding, and the eggs need collecting and the henhouses cleaning. You’ll need to work hard to keep the farmer pleased too. Follow the step by step instructions and get chicken farming!

• Healthy Chicken Nuggets
Make some healthy chicken nuggets – follow the hints at the bottom to finds the things you need in the cupboards. Make the nuggets, bake them and then serve them with sauce. Try Chicken and Dumplings and Chicken Masala.

• Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?
Use the arrow keys to get your chicken across the road. And the across the river. And the across the... okay I admit it; I only got as far as the river! So, why did the chicken cross the road? So many jokes so little time...

• Last Egg Standing
Use the arrow keys to move the fox and catch as many eggs as you can. Catching bonus eggs gives you more points, and catching a rotten green egg loses you a life.

• Chicken and Chocolate
You are a chicken on a mission, and that mission is to collect chocolate. Use the left and right arrows to move, and the up arrow to jump. Jump over the bombs and dodge the meteors. And if that’s not enough, try making chocolate-covered chicken.

• Chicken Little
Chicken Little has missed the bus again. Use the arrow keys to get him to school. Avoid cars, fire hydrants, cracked pavements, bubble gum, oil puddles and sprinklers. Skateboards move faster, but stick to the road and use the spacebar to get off. The clock freezes time and pieces of sky get you extra points (it is falling down after all).

• Foghorn Leghorn’s Thanks But No Thanks
Miss Prissy is after Foghorn Leghorn, and giving him too many presents. Destroy three or more connected gifts of the same colour by clicking on with the mouse, and keep an eye out for the bombs – use the space bar to activate and this will get rid of all gifts of the same colour.

• Chicken Table Hockey
Play table hockey against a small chicken – use the mouse to move the paddle. And use it as an opportunity to learn a new language too!

• Chicken Stacker
Choose a letter, and then click the words with that sound in to stack five chickens.
