Suzanne Elvidge plays with her food.
Ah, food glorious food. But there are always the issues of what is good and bad for you, what will cause an allergy, what you like and what you don't. So... some fat-free, calorie-free, allergen-free, taste free games for you to try.
All games are free downloads or free to play.
Some games require your browser to have a 'plug in' for Shockwave, Flash or Java.
To play a game, simply click on its name. If you are a parent, we advise you to try the game and the site it's on first before letting your kids play them, to make sure you're happy. (And, don't forget, you can also find great games for kids in our own Global Gang area)
When downloading games from the Internet, don't forget to keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware software up to date.
I've always been fascinated by plate spinners, and this game lets me pretend without the associated mess or crockery bills. Move your mouse around to balance the weight on the plate.
Foodlink Food Safety games
Have a wander round Calamity Kitchen, match the card pairs, download the puzzles, do a wordsearch, spot the difference, and have a try at the quiz.
Stack the Fridge
This is my first bi-lingual game! Choose English or Welsh, then put the food on the correct shelf. A small cartoon leek will check up on you and tell you if you are right or wrong. There are more food safety games featuring the leek here.
Grow your plants in the Root Factory, and then select which one the robot arm will pull up. Identify what kind of roots it has and if it's edible. And there is even the occasional recipe.
Put the stages of making bread in the right order. There are some more games here, including a cheese wordsearch, to go with your bread
Harold's Food Flinging Game
Help Harold keep his customers happy by picking up their orders and throwing them. Well, it seems to keep them happy—if they don't get hit by the right food they start to get irritated!
Plant Parts Salad
Match up the plant parts with their names. You can then go on to make a real salad. You might want to eat it with a nice warm soup at this time of year!
Nutrition Café games
At the Nutrition Café, you can answer questions about food in the Grab-a-Grape quiz (unfortunately not nearly as messy as it sounded) and use the clues in a game of hangman to be a Nutrition Sleuth and identify missing nutrients.
MyPyramid Blast Off Game
Build yourself breakfast, lunch and supper and a snack, add in some activity, and see if you can get to Planet Power! It does get very upset if you put too many bad foods in though, so be good...
Tracy Beaker Presents Mealtime Madness
Help Duke cook supper by finding him the ingredients he needs. When the ingredients are right, there will be a green tick—then drag them to his mixing bowl.
And one extra...
Just to prove that I don't always eat healthy, here's the Build-a-Burger game. You've got to fill the orders as the trays slide past. The ticket will tell you what the order is, and the size of drink and side order.
Click on each ingredient and then on the tray to create the burger, checking on the ingredients list. Click on the appropriate size box for the French fries or onion rings and click on the tray, and then click on the appropriate size drinks cup and the tray.
And off you go... working in fast food without the grease!
