'You have four goes to guess a movie title or the kangaroo gets it.'

Scoring points with words. A lifetime’s work for some people. Thankfully here it is just a bit of fun. Find some new words. Recall some old words. Link words together and watch them explode. Stuff like that.

Some games require your browser to have a 'plug in' for Shockwave. You can download this for free here here

If you are a parent, we advise you to try the game and the site it's on first before letting your kids play them, to make sure you're happy. (And, don't forget, you can also find great games for kids in our own Global Gang area).

To play a game, simply click on its name.

Version of hangman. You have four goes to guess a movie title or the kangaroo gets it.

Letter Rip
Find words of three or more letters by clicking on adjoining tiles to score. Play the timed game and you will need to find a certain number in two minutes. Tiles increase in value each time you use them.

Word puzzle in the shape of a pyramid. Three letter word at the top which also appears in all the words lower down, each word getting longer.

6-Letter-Word Game
In semi-mastermind style (no black peg/white peg business) try and guess a word by thinking of another six letter word and then learning how many letters are in the right place. Tricky.

Thesaurus Tangle
You are given a word and an anagram of its synonym. Unscramble it and get another.

Topic Tangle
Same as Thesaurus Tangle but with topics. Play these before your Countdown audition.

Wacky Wordsearch
Wreck your eyes straining at an enormous grid of letters trying to find hidden words – up, down and flying around. At least they were flying around by the time I’d finished only to get the ‘try faster’ comment from the scorer. Aaaagh. Only do this once in a row.

What Word?
Swap the places of letters to make words which then vanish from your grid. Each level there will be a key word (the whatword) to find. Enjoy the frustration of having it almost set up when you accidentally make another word with one of your letters.

Wild Wild Words
This has everything. It is a descending tile game. You remove tiles by making three to eight letter words. Added fun of dynamite and first-aid tiles plus a game of hangman going on at the same time.

Worm Nerd
They give you a word (or series of letters) and you make the best sentence you can using each of those letters to start another word. Time wasting and mildly amusing (who were incidentally, another two who didn’t quite make the final of ‘Dwarf Idol’ to find Snow White some new helpers).
