Closure of surefish internet and email services

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Your surefish.co.uk or fish.co.uk email account will close on October 27, 2008
I am writing to tell you that we have decided to close the internet access and email services provided by Surefish.co.uk. This means that your internet access, email address and personal websites will have to change, as by October 25th, 2008 they will no longer operate.
Since 2001, the service, which originally launched as fish.co.uk, has raised more than £1 million for Christian Aid’s work around the world. However, it has been increasingly unable to compete with other internet and broadband providers and is now getting to the stage where it will operate at a loss.
Even though we know you will be disappointed and inconvenienced by this decision, we hope you will understand that Christian Aid has to sometimes make difficult decisions for the greater good so that it can concentrate on other ways to raise funds, campaign for a better world and help those in need.
You should also take pride in what you have helped to achieve through your use of the Surefish service. Because of the money you have generated through Surefish, Christian Aid has been able to help countless people around the world.
This is not the end of Christian Aid raising funds through internet access. A new independent affinity scheme from award-winning provider So Internet (parent company of Christian Technology) is being launched to offer ways of accessing the internet, including broadband, and raise money for Christian Aid. Full details can be found using the link on the bottom of this page.
Visit http://sointernet.com/christianaid for more details.
The Surefish website, with news and features about ethical living, culture, campaigns, faith, community, discussion forums and its fundraising internet search engine, will continue as before.
If you have any questions, please email
email@example.com. We will send out further updates by email and you can also use the Surefish forum.
I cannot thank you enough for your support to Christian Aid through Surefish and may I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this will cause.
With warmest wishes,
Director, Christian Aid
